We have previously discussed how academic medical leadership seems to care more about how much money their faculty bring in than their clinical, teaching or research performance.

Why academic medicine came to put money ahead of mission has never been clear. However, a little bit of insight has been (probably inadvertently) provided by an announcement of a new university president.
