(Cooney Waters Group, Inc.) Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of sanofi-aventis Group, announced today that an investigational high-dose influenza vaccine demonstrated increased immune responses among adults 65 years of age and older compared with the standard influenza vaccine.

The candidate high-dose intramuscular formulation of the influenza vaccine is being developed by Sanofi Pasteur.

(Publicis Consultants | PR) Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of the sanofi-aventis group, announced today that the US Food and Drug Administrationhas licensed pentacel, diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis adsorbed, inactivated poliovirus and haemophilus b conjugate (tetanus toxoid conjugate) vaccine.

Pentacel vaccine is indicated for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and invasive disease due to Haemophilus influenzae type b.


 

Consortium to seek genetic markers for adverse drug reactions

Seven major pharmaceutical companies in collaboration with European and US academic centers have formed consortium to identify genetic markers to predict who is at risk for serious adverse drug reactions.

The group’s first efforts will focus on drug-related liver toxicity and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (toxic epidermal necrolysis).
