FDA Approves First-of-a-Kind Asthma Device

WASHINGTON (MedPage Today) -- The FDA approved a new device for the treatment of severe and persistent asthma, which uses radiofrequency energy to smooth and prevent constriction of airways in lieu of corticosteroids.

A gene on chromosome one appears to be linked to moderate to severe persistent asthma in children (MedPage Today) -- the second such genetic locus associated with the disease.
