(Autism Speaks) Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder in a Total Population Sample," published online in the American Journal of Psychiatry estimates prevalence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in South Korea to be 2.64 percent, or approximately 1 in 38 children, and concludes that using a total population sample, autism prevalence estimates worldwide may increase.

This research studied approximately all children ages 7-12 years in a community, including those enrolled in special education, the disability registry, and general education.
