New 'Heroes of Chemistry' are pioneers in personalized medicine ...

(American Chemical Society) Two scientists developed a drug that helped pioneer the era of "personalized medicine" for cancer patients, while another scientist invented today's predominant technology for genetic sequencing, deciphering the DNA that makes up the genes of living things.

The American Chemical Society honored all three today at the ACS' 242nd National Meeting & Exposition, inducting them into its scientific "hall of fame," the ACS Heroes of Chemistry.

(American Chemical Society) The first measurements of healthful antioxidant levels in commercial bottled tea beverages has concluded that health-conscious consumers may not be getting what they pay for: healthful doses of those antioxidants, or "poylphenols," that may ward off a range of diseases.

The research was presented at the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society.
