Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States and is a major cause of disability.

About 1.2 million people will have a first or recurrent coronary attack. Each year, about 700,000 people die of heart disease.

(CDC) NCCAM supports studies on heart disease. Some people at risk for heart disease may try complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, including dietary supplements.

An individual considering using CAM therapy, should talk to their health care providers to ensure safe and coordinated care.
