Cell Line Authentication Month

An ad hoc group of concerned scientists has declared May 2008 to be Cell Line Authentication Global Awareness Month to draw attention to the misidentification and cross-contamination of cell lines, a problem that has persisted for 45 years.

Academic institutions, research institutes, and industrial labs worldwide are being asked to organize at least one activity for their members on cell authentication in May.
